Are YOU up for the challenge?
If you have started to feel your body and mind respond to yoga as we practice it, or if you have already practiced other forms of yoga, you might be ready for the stronger challenge of Ashtanga yoga. Discover new ways to free your body, while opening up parts you never accessed before. This powerful style of yoga was developed to strengthen, stretch, cleanse and tone the body, and to bring conscious awareness to the mind, all of which prepares you for living your everyday life with mindful awareness. One of the main distinguishing features of Ashtanga yoga is that it links a set series of postures together in a flowing sequence that is synchronised with the breath.
The practice is dynamic and strong, but as always you listen to you own body and develop gradually as your body unfolds. Eventually the practice becomes a moving meditation, clearing your mind and strengthening and nourishing your body, as you flow from pose to pose.
When: Tuesdays and Friday mornings, 6am – 7.30am.
The 6 week course start on the following dates in 2012:
- 17 January
- 28 February
- 10 April
- 22 May
- 3 July
- 14 August
- 25 September
- 6 November
Fridays are Mysore style practice, where you move through the sequence at your own pace, with plenty of help from the teacher, and Tuesdays are Led practice, where the teacher leads you through the practice.
Fee: $180 for 6 weeks
